The reward requires a list of seven things you might not know about me:
1. I made my wedding dress. (and veil, too.)
2. On the last page of the magazine The Crafts Report, I wrote the monthly column "Loretta's Last Line" for three years.
3. I photographed industrial buildings along the entire Erie Canal as part of my Master's thesis in Architecture.
4. I asked Santa for dark chocolate and a new set of white dishes last Christmas. (This involved a slushy side trip to Fishs Eddy in New York City!)
5. For the first time last year, I grew "Bright Lights" swiss chard. It runs circles around spinach.
6. I prefer aquamarines over diamonds.
7. I just took a book out from the library on writing song lyrics.
Addition: Someone asked if that's a "stock" wedding picture or my actual dress. It's my new Mr. and me and my dress! Credit to Tom Wall Photography
mathmatical disclaimer: Feel free not to participate! Just sincerely reply: "...Loretta, love you, but, this award is statistically unsustainable as it involves exponential growth to the tenth degree."

Loretta, love your list! That wedding dress rules and I'm wondering when we'll hear the lyrics to your songs! Mac
ReplyDeleteSongs? Ha ha! My backup plan if my jewelry design career fades! But I have to finish the book first and it's like a textbook, so I think I'll stick to the jewelry...
ReplyDeleteLoretta
Thank you so much Loretta!
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed that you made your own wedding gown!! ps: Aquamarines are my birth stones!
xo*
Lenore- You are welcome! Aquamarines are my birthstone, too. My wedding ring is an aquamarine.

Loretta
You made your wedding dress ?! That's awesome.... and hard. Thanks for stopping by.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the award Loretta! You Rock! (check out our post today!) -Ann
ReplyDeleteHi Loretta! Wow...this is out of the blue, to say the least! I've been rummaging through the old files in my brain (definitely pretty musty in there!) and here's my free association from your wedding day: Catholic church on Congress St. in Troy...an old Corvette (that might have needed a new clutch after your big day!)...a broken-down old Corvette...a canoe...a camp on a lake...a really good time at a highly unique wedding.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the blog! Hope you're well.
Tom
Thanks for the award Loretta! That's very cool and kind of you!!

Karena- Got the book on Writing Song Lyrics just to try it out and have some fun, not to change careers! (Rosanne, my dear musical friend, if you are reading you know I'll write something for you!)
ReplyDeleteOn page 157 of the book is "Same Old Lang Syne" by Dan Fogelberg:
"...I stole behind her in the frozen foods
And I touched her on the sleeve..."
A line about frozen foods in a song that breaks open your heart. With songs like that out there, who could resist trying to write a song lyric?"
Loretta
Fabulous post and so nice to know more about you! I love swiss chard as well and have been planting it for years. I usually saute it with onion, garlic and olive oil and a dash of salt...yum! Also, my parents were both born and raised in Erie. Are you ever going to post the photos you took on the Erie Canal? If so, I would love to show it to my parents. xx Danielle
ReplyDeleteDanielle- Adore the swiss chard. Unlike my spinach, which bolted so early, the swiss chard just grew and grew! I cook it just like you do but like to add a bit of beet or beet greens for the bright, pretty color. Yum!
ReplyDeleteWhat part of Erie county did your parents live in? I'll have to see if I still have all the old contact sheets. I remember taking photos of the massive grain elevators in Buffalo, New York. I hope I can find those!
Loretta
Congrats on the award!

Have a great weekend,
Ashlyn
