p.s. Just used the Novica gift certificate I won from Clear Blue Skies to order a dress from Bali! Thanks Elizabeth for the great giveaway!
... also, for the question on my top - It's a coral orange and white stripe cotton/spandex top from the GAP Factory Store. I picked it up brand new for ten cents at a rummage sale! (One of my best rummage sale finds, ever!)
I can't guess where you are now but I wish I can go there someday. The view is breathtaking. :)

Thinking Out Loud
My guess is Bear Mountain State Park part of the Palisades park system. I don't actually remember there being a bear statue, but, the AT goes through it and you can see the bridge from it.

Not a clue where you are on the trail but looks like a lot of fun. So give, what part were you hiking? I hope you had a fabulous weekend!
ReplyDeleteTim- You got it! Bear Mountain State Park in New York. Two bear statues flank the entrance to the Bear Mountain Inn, and the bridge is the Bear Mountain Bridge over the Hudson River.
ReplyDeleteThe steps are a few of the 800 granite steps in place on this part of the Appalachian Trail because it gets so much foot traffic at this very popular park.

Have you ever read "A Walk in the Woods" by Bill Bryson? It made me want to tackle the A. Trail someday! Glad you're out enjoying nature's glory!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't sure where you were but it looks awesome!! The pictures are so pretty and I bet you had such a great time!
ReplyDeleteSarah- Yes, I have read the book. I'll always remember his words on the fragility of trees...

Hi Loretta! Last Friday, on our way home from NYC, we stopped at the first overlook on the Palisades to have lunch - sandwiches and goodies from Dean and DeLucca on Madison Ave! - and look out over the Hudson. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteNo idea where on the trail you are - buy it is gorgeous!

Great post, what a beautiful area and I have so much to learn about this trail, especially as Bill Bryson's book is my fave. Kevin's parents live in Pa, but this area in New York looks a lot more majestic.
ReplyDeleteJust found your wonderful blog when googling Bear Mountain State Park and Bill Bryson. What a nice hike! I am following your blog now. Emily
