I have three
"Master Plans" for the
back of my house. Which do you like the most?
As promised here's the first, the "Master Plan"
I was working on in my last post:
|
{Master Plan #1} |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Of course, I've been gleaning advice from all my architect friends (thank you all!) on this little project. During one of these "charettes" my good friend Michael really REALLY pushed me to explore a bit more. And a conversation with the fabulous Ian (a Professor of mine way back) made me want to do some tinkering too!
So, Ian and Michael, here's what I came up with:
|
{Master Plan #2} |
|
{Master Plan #3} |
|
|
Which is your favorite?
Let me know!
More on my
windowseat project here. Remember, right now the rear of the house looks like this:
Loretta
Hi Loretta- It's Nick! :)
ReplyDeleteOf the three, I prefer the first. But aren't #1 and #3 identical besides color? Maybe I'm just not seeing it. I feel like that main projection gets kind of lost in the second sheme. I like how hiearchically it reads in the first one, and just have a personal preference for roof overhangs versus the roof meeting the wall more flush like shown there.
As for the deck, does it extend past the bay projection in the first scheme? And what is the arc shown above the windows on the deck?
One suggestion I would have (it may not be feasable based on budget or what room is behind where I'm thinking) would be to balance everything that's going on in the right with some sort of move on the left. Like could a chimney be expressed on the exterior between the two windows shown on the left in the first scheme? (smaller than the previous one). That would break up the flatness of that wall, and give the composition more balance.
But in general, good job! looks great! Can't wait to see what it looks like when its done! (I love designing!)
Hi Loretta,
ReplyDeleteI like the n.1 best!
We would love to come visit you on one weekend toward the end of the month: are you guys around?
Big hug to everybody!
Hi Loretta! I like all the details on #3!
ReplyDeleteNick- Love your comments! The arch is flat trim. I'll have a similar arch in the interior of the new windowseat.
ReplyDeleteThat right half of the back of house on the upper level I'm giving the visual emphasis because it's the living area. (The other left half of the upper level is a bedroom and a bathroom)

I am liking the 1st the best Loretta. You have so much going on...thanks for visiting me!

They all look so lovely but am leaning towards three. Is that because it has the most windows? I always love loads of windows, think you can never have too many
ReplyDeletenumber 1! happy weekend!
ReplyDeletePrefer number 1 - and agree with Nick that 1 and 3 look similar. Before you begin explore the possibilities. New windows can change a home - and I for one love loads of light.

Popped over from PVE I like the 1st right away. I too love a lot of light and miss with all of our trees. xo
ReplyDeleteLove the detail of all the windows in the first along with the wonderful arch!!
ReplyDeleteI'm leaning towards the first as well.

I am going to have to agree I like the first one best. I like a lot of light also and love how you have the windows!!
ReplyDeleteHello Loretta, I like #2!
ReplyDelete- P
i like plan 3 but that could just be the fabulous aqua colour!
ReplyDeleteI like the last one definitely! That will be lovely to have a large window where the (is it chimneys?) are now!

Hi Loretta, to be honest I love your orignal plan, the first one the best. I just think the others get a little busy your first plane is simple but elegant. They're all wonderful but don't over think and go with your gut.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to echo what most everyone else has said and say number one (or maybe 3). I'm so bad at making these decisions! But you've done a lovely job thus far. Can't wait to see what you decide and eventually the final project!
ReplyDelete#1 or #3, but I prefer the deck detailing on 3. Such an exciting project!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I have to say that I like #1 as well.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing the progress.
